Sustainable agriculture in the UAE has become a clear goal for the concerned authorities to develop this vital sector to achieve food security and reduce the food gap, so that the soil is preserved and the optimal use of water, whether groundwater or available rainwater.
Neither the climatic characteristics nor the geographical nature, whether with regard to water scarcity, lack of rain, high temperatures and weak soil, hindered thinking outside the box in this sector. That’s why combined use of land for food production and energy generation could help producing food in an environmentally sustainable way but the compatibility between crops, shade provided by the PV panels, agriculture operations lead to various interdisciplinary abstracts.
